The Collectivity of Corsica has appointed the Natali and Buesa S.A.S consortium to rehabilitate the breakwaters at the Old Port of Bastia: The Dragon’s jetty and the Genoa Mole, including the installation of 2,000 ACCROPODE™ II blocks of 6m3 and 9m3.

CLAS’ part of the project included supporting activities during the reconstruction of the Dragon dike.

After several storms, the two breakwaters faced weaknesses in its armour area.

The works were carried out by sea, starting with the 150-metre Dragon’s Jetty, after an initial phase of extraction and removal of Tetrapode blocks.

The Old Port of Bastia is also an innovative project with the placement of 20 ECOPODE™ blocks underwater in order to study how fast the biodiversity develops on these macro-textured artificial blocks,” said CLI – Concrete Layer Innovations.
