Damen has decided to stop deliveries of new vessels to clients in Russia due to the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

The company said that it will also not accept new contracts involving Russian interests. The decision will have a “firm impact” on its finances, a Damen spokesperson said.

Also, the Dutch shipbuilder added that it will remain in close contact with the relevant authorities about the situation around Russia.

The company is not revealing the number of involved vessels, but said it is a “significant amount”.

Damen Shipyards has 35 shipyards and 12,000 employees in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America. The company also has branches in Russia.
