Town of Duck beachfill project set for summer

Weeks Marine, the dredging contractor for the Town of Duck beach nourishment project, has provided a tentative schedule for the 2022 beachfill campaign.

At this time, the company anticipates working in Duck beginning in early to mid August with a projected completion of late August or early September.

According to the town officials, this schedule remains tentative and is subject to various factors including weather conditions and unforeseen delays.

Dare County and the Town of Duck have already executed one nourishment/dredging contract with Weeks Marine. This year, construction is planned to take place in the same area as the 2017 project.

The Duck beach project includes nourishment of approximately 1.6 miles of shoreline from the Army Corps Pier north to Skimmer Way at a construction cost of $7,394,516.
