Jenkins Marine to Dredge Haslar Marina

The Queen’s Harbor Master Portsmouth announced yesterday that routine maintenance dredging project is set to begin next week at the Haslar Marina Gosport.

As reported, the project starts September 17th and is expected to last for approximately 4 – 5 weeks.

The contractor for the works – Jenkins Marine Ltd. of Poole, Dorset – will use the 30.1 meter Backhoe Dredger Doreen Dorward to complete the works.

“ The vessel conducting this task, the Doreen Dorward which will display the appropriate signals from the COLREGS when conducting her operations ,” the QHM Portsmouth notice said. “ Operations will be conducted daily between 0600 and 2100 Monday to Friday but with the option to work weekends if bad weather is a factor.”

According to the notice, the spoil will be loaded into one of two 44.1 meter self propelled split hopper barges Nab and/or Needles for disposal to the Nab Spoil Ground.
