Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership and Portsmouth City Council’s coastal engineering team have started work on the Tipner Lake Coastal Defense scheme.

The scheme, part of the overall North Portsea Island Coastal Flood Defenses, will run from the Mountbatten Centre, Twyford Avenue to the Ports Creek roundabout.

The work will take place in three phases from April – autumn 2017, 2018 and 2019, when the area will reopen.

The scheme will rebuild the existing sea wall which will increase in height by up to 1.4 meters to reduce the risk of coastal flooding to properties in the area.

Phase 1 of the North Portsea Island Coastal Flood Defenses was at Anchorage Park and completed in August 2016. Works on the phase 2 took place at Milton Common and were completed in October 2016.
