GLDD Bags $88 Million Ship Island Restoration Deal

Business & Finance

Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company (GLDD) has won an $88 million contract for Mississippi Comprehensive Barrier Island Restoration – Ship Island Phase One.

The Mississippi Coastal Improvements Program (MsCIP) Barrier Island Restoration Plan, as identified in the Comprehensive Plan and Integrated Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), includes restoration of Ship Island.

This proposed action includes the placement of sand along the northern shore of West Ship Island.

Placement of this sandy material will stabilize this area and allow continued biological diversity to persist in Mississippi Sound, the USACE said.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, is the contracting activity and the estimated completion date of this dredging scheme is April 26, 2018.
