Ryba Marine Wins Cleveland Harbor Dredging Deal

Business & Finance

The USACE, Buffalo District, has moved quickly following the Stipulation and Order entered by the Court last week, and has awarded a $3.7 million contract to dredge the Cleveland Harbor federal navigation channel in 2016 to Ryba Marine Construction of Cheboygan, Michigan.

Under the terms of the Stipulation and Order, all dredged sediment from the federal navigation channel will be placed in a confined disposal facility (CDF).

The Corps of Engineers will pay the cost difference between disposal of the dredged material from the Upper Reach in a CDF and open-lake placement.

The estimated cost difference is approximately $2.1 million.

The State of Ohio has agreed to reimburse the Corps of Engineers the actual cost difference of this disposal method if the Corps of Engineers prevails on the merits of the 2016 litigation.
