Como Lake in Urgent Need of Dredging

Business & Finance

Legislator Ted Morton (R-Cheektowaga) recently visited Como Lake Park in Lancaster, NY to observe the rapid deterioration of the lake.

“What I saw was astonishing. The drought, coupled with years of neglect, is completely destroying Como Lake and devastating the quality of the park,” stated Legislator Morton.

“I’ve been continuing to urge the County Executive to work with the Legislature and myself to dredge the lake, as anyone can clearly see that it’s needed.”

Morton, residents and local officials have been fighting to get the lake dredged. However, dredging was not included in this year’s Capital Budget.

“With the lake long overdue for dredging, I simply cannot support the Capital Projects Budget since it does not include dredging. Our constituents and the neighbors who live near the lake deserve far better than this,” concluded Legislator Morton.
