Warringah Council is installing special markers at Narrabeen Lagoon later this month, to help sailors and paddlers navigate the waterway.

Council worked with local users and State agencies to find the best location for the markers, which point out fragile seagrass meadows and shallow sections that are best avoided.

The installation of the markers was recommended following community consultation about dredging the lagoon to make it deeper for recreational users.

Investigations found that buoys, better management and a review of opening and closing of the lagoon entrance, should be carried out before considering dredging further.
