Business & Finance

VolkerWessels UK group businesses VolkerFitzpatrick, VolkerStevin and VolkerGround Engineering have been named finalists in three categories of the Ground Engineering Awards 2015.

Established to recognize excellence in the ground engineering industry, the Ground Engineering Awards assess technical ability, innovation, efficiency and sustainability to highlight the best the industry has to offer.

Sustainability Award

VolkerFitzpatrick has been shortlisted for the Sustainability Award for its innovative approach to environmental and sustainability issues on the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) project with AECOM.

Ground Investigation Project of the Year

VBA, the joint venture between VolkerStevin, Boskalis Westmister and Atkins, has been shortlisted for the Crag End landslip project in Rothbury, Northumberland. This category rewards ground investigation schemes which excel in terms of innovation, sustainability, health and safety and value engineering.

UK Project with a Geotechnical Value of between 1M and 3M

VolkerGround Engineering has secured finalist spots for two projects in this category, which recognizes ground engineering schemes which have been delivered beyond expected standards. The Arun (East Bank) tidal walls project in Littlehampton, West Sussex, and the River Don slope stability works at Arksey in Yorkshire have both been shortlisted in this category, a great achievement for VolkerGround Engineering.

Winners will be announced at the Ground Engineering Awards 2015 on the 10th June, with the ceremony taking place at the iconic Hilton Hotel on London’s Park Lane.
