Longer Dredging Hours for Compo Marina

Business & Finance

The Westport Department of Public Works has announced that a request to extend the weekday construction hours until 10 p.m. for work related to the dredging of the Compo Marina basin has been approved.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ permit for the dredging stipulates that in-water work must be completed by Feb. 1, 2015.

Contractor FGB Construction requested that the weekday work hours be extended in order to complete the project within the specified time period.

This standard permit condition is imposed to protect the fishery and shellfish resources. A significant portion of the work is further limited by specific tidal cycles.

Erosion and shoreline stabilization at Compo Marina will be significantly improved when the project is complete.
