The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced this week that more than $9 million is budgeted for beach renourishment project on Anna Maria Island.

This new funding is just an addition to more than $6 million already set aside, reports bradenton.com.

Regarding this information, Charlie Hunsicker, the Manatee County natural resources director , stated: “ I cannot understate how fortunate we are to receive approvals for over $15 million in federal spending this year for our beaches, given the delicate political and economic climate in Washington. ”

The mentioned renourishment project will commence at the city of Holmes Beach and resume south to Longboat Pass, Hunsicker added.
