According to wsjm.com, the owners of a Benton Harbor Marina on the Saint Joseph River are appealing to other business owners nearby for help in paying for some dredging this month.
Kathy Myers, with Pier 1000 Marina, tells WSJM that there’s a stretch of the river along Riverview Drive with so much sand built up that some boats can’t get out to Lake Michigan.
He said that it’ll cost about 50 thousand dollars, and so far, about half of that has been raised.
This dredging project has to be done before May to meet state guidelines.
