Besides the regular activities, this day is dedicated to all the facts about the seawall that protects Maasvlakte 2 in the northwest.
Exactly 19,558 concrete blocks of 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 meter, each weighing over 40 tons, are all carefully built into this new block dam. In addition to various lectures, visitors can take a look during the visit.
The hard sea defenses of Maasvlakte 2 include a 3.5 km long barrier of concrete blocks, intended for protection against storms that come once in 10,000 years. The Blockbuster was used for the construction of this dam.
This specially adapted E-crane placed the stone blocks and water to 60 meters from the heart of the crane, with a precision of 15 centimeters.
