The Bahamas: Montagu Gets New Beach

The Caribean Journal reports that Montagu Foreshore Redevelopment Project, a joint initiative of the Bahamian government and Kerzner International, includes beach replenishment aimed at expanding the beach from one to almost three acres.

This Nassau’s Montagu area redevelopment project is nearing completion.

Environment Minister, Earl Deveaux, stated that the government directed Kerzner’s community outreach programme to ensure that this particular project was completed.

We are extraordinarily pleased with the results,” said Minister.

Deveaux also added that this project had added new vegetation to the beach, including scaevola, sea oats and railroad vine, all intended for beach rehabilitation and to stabilise the dune.
