Eastern Chamber Businessmen Delegation Visits Jubail Port

A delegation of businessmen of Eastern Chamber of Commerce paid a visit to Jubail Commercial Port. They met with Director General of the Port Captain, Fahd bin Ahmed Al Amer and reviewed the port’s activities and the large process of development witnessed in the port in order to provide services to clients such as developing the container terminal.

The Port administration has increased the containers berths from 500 meters to 1000 meters as well as container storage, which will increase the operational capacity of the port to handle one million TEUs per year in addition to strengthening container handling equipment by providing Super Post Panamax” container cranes “tonnage of 65 tons and (RTG) cranes load 65 tons, bringing the total number of (STC) container cranes in the port up to and (RTG) cranes to cranes.

In addition to strengthening bulk grain handling equipment by providing equipments with modern technology and operational capacity about (400 tons/hour) and equipments with operational capacity about (120 tons/hour) which will lead to achieving record levels in the terminal up to (30,000) tons per day.

The port also provided special services to industrial companies to export their products to international markets through renting locations in the external areas of the port, including the renting an area for SABIC company (360 450) m2 as well as other leases agreements with some industrial companies such as Saudi Polymers Company and International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem).

The Captain Al- Amer pointed out that in the first quarter of 2012; Jubail Commercial Port has achieved a steady increase in the total cargo handling amounted to (1,583,235) tons compared to (791,065) tons for the first quarter of 2011, with an increasing rate of 100%.

After that, the Director General of the port to answered the queries from the businessmen followed by a field visit to the port cargo terminals.
