CHEC Lands Lekki Port Contract

China Harbour and Lekki Port Company formally signed the Contract on Lekki Deepwater Port EPC Project of Nigeria in Singapore on May 11, 2012. CHEC vice president, Lin Yichong attended the meeting and signed on the contract on behalf of the contractor.

The value of the contract of Phase I project is around USD 679 million and the construction period is 42 months. The project mainly covers breakwater with a total length of 2.2 Km, 6 Km long navigation channel, one multi-purpose wharf, three wharfs which can accommodate 8000TEU containerships, workboat berths, storage yards, retaining wall, navigation, etc.

The project is one of the largest deepwater projects in West Africa and the port will provide Nigeria and surrounding countries with sea channel for importing and exporting goods once it is put in use.
