EXCLUSIVE: President Muizzu announces land reclamation in Maaenboodhoo

In order to address the land constraints in the island of Maaenboodhoo in Dhaalu atoll, reclamation of 30 hectares of land will be initiated soon, said the President of the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The President visited Maaenboodhoo this morning, during his visit to Dhaalu atoll.

Speaking to residents, he assured that land reclamation will proceed in accordance with his earlier pledge.

At the moment, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is being conducted for the project.

Also, the work on the EIA is set to be completed in the next couple of weeks by the Construction Ministry and the Environmental Protection Agency.

The President said that in accordance with the residents’ wishes, 2 hectares of the reclaimed land will be used as a separate island.
