According to DPWH, the newly constructed flood mitigation structure – including a 312.40-meter double-berm system, a 10-meter-wide dike, and reinforced concrete slope protection, has significantly reduced the risk of flooding in the area.

The completed flood control project not only safeguards the community but also ensures agricultural stability by preventing crop damage and boosting opportunities to fish farming,” said DPWH Region 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino.

Prior to the project’s completion, residents of Barangay Pambuan experience frequent flooding, which disrupted daily life, damaged crops, and threatened livelihood due to rising water levels of the Peñaranda River especially during heavy rainfall and typhoons.
