Canada: Port Hope Harbour Dredging to Begin Soon

The Port Hope harbour dredging may even begin this mont, according to northumberlandtoday.com.

Karen Sharpe, the Parks, Recreation and Culture director, said: „As soon as they get the go-ahead from the Ganaraska Regional Conservation Authority, they’ll get underway.“

Approximately 1,500 cubic metres of sediment will be excavated to create a channel with a minimum depth of three metres along the south end of the harbour’s west wall – approximately 80 metres long.

Sharpe says if all goes well, dredging will begin the end of this month or early June, and once it’s piled on the beach, test samples will be taken and sent off for analysis.

This process can take about two weeks, she said.
