Parks crews are pumping water out of the ponds in preparation for dredging out the silt by contractor crews, which is scheduled from early February through mid-March.

We’ve wanted to dredge the Jackson ponds for the past few years and this year we are able to coordinate with South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks to get the work done,” said City Parks Division Manager, Scott Anderson.

Anderson also added that the project will improve water quality and the state is planning fish habitat improvements in the ponds.

The ponds are located on the south side of Jackson Boulevard across from Jackson Park between Argyle Street and Central Boulevard.
