EXCLUSIVE: Volos Port dredging deal signed

A 9.5 million EUR contract was signed earlier this week to restore Volos Port in Thessaly, Greece – heavily damaged by storms Daniel and Elias in September last year.

According to the Government, the project focuses on dredging and removing sediment to restore safe and efficient operations.

The signing of this contract is a decisive step toward restoring normalcy in the region,” Shipping Minister Christos Stylianides said. “The project prioritizes the safety, functionality and economic activity of the port, a key pillar of growth for Magnesia and Thessaly.”

Managed by the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, the program is funded through the Shipping Ministry’s Sectoral Development Program and Public Investment Program. 

The Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Triantopoulos nad the Deputy Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Zetta Makri, also attended the signing ceremony.
