The $5.2-million project, aimed to restore the waterway to a safe navigable depth, will take place in Middletown.

Under the dredging program, the DOT’s contractor, Mobile Dredging & Video Pipe Inc., will remove fine sand and silt from the river, restoring the depth to between four and six feet.

Dredging operations are scheduled to begin in early December and are expected to be completed in January 2025.

Work will be conducted during daylight hours seven days a week, said DOT.
