EXCLUSIVE: Damen, Turkmenistan to cooperate in production of dredging equipment

The Dutch shipbuilding company Damen and JSC Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant Balkan from Turkmenistan discussed a cooperation in the production of dredging vessels earlier this week.

According to News Central Asia, the meeting took place on November 19 during the visit of the delegation headed by Kommer Damen to the enterprise in the City of Turkmenbashy. Representatives of the Agency for Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan ‘Turkmen Denizderyollary’ also took part in the talks.

The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of shipbuilding, paying special attention to the production of dredging equipment.

As part of the visit, the Dutch delegation inspected the production facilities of the Balkan plant and got acquainted with the construction process of two new dry cargo ships.

Damen equipment is already actively used in Turkmenistan for small and capital dredging projects, construction of port infrastructure and other marine works.
