Typically, this work is performed annually by mechanical dredging to -37.5-ft (MLLW) plus 1 foot of paid overdepth.

According to the Corps, the Richmond Inner Harbor project calls for the dredging and removal of over 4000,000 cubic yards of material from Reaches 1 through 13.

The purpose of this project is to maintain a proper depth that would allow the safe transit of large vessels through the area.

USACE expects to award the contract by the end of November and work under the Richmond dredging project to start early next year.
