Dredging work starts for Dampier Bulk Handling Facility

Dredging activity for the Dampier Bulk Handling Facility (DBHF) has started within the Port of Dampier and will continue until May 2025, Pilbara Ports said.

The sailing route will be utilized 24 hours a day, meaning vessels will transit during both daytime and nighttime hours,” according to their official release.

“Skippers are advised to stay well clear during disposal and dredging activities and only cross the sailing route when safe to do so. Diving or other activities on the spoil ground are not advised at any time.”

During this period, split hopper barges will be towed via tugboat to the East Lewis Island Spoil Ground.

The Dampier Cargo Wharf Projects is set to deliver a multi-user facility that expands the service capability of the port.

The project is funded by the Federal and State Governments and will be completed in three stages.
