Successful completion of the North Terminal Expansion project

Senator Edward J. Markey earlier this week joined local and state officials at a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the successful completion of the North Terminal expansion project.

The completed terminal has 965 linear feet of bulkhead, provides 10.5 acres of terminal space, and utilizes a 56,000-square-foot warehouse with direct rail and road access.

The expansion will support growing infrastructure needs of port users and ensure long-term economic growth for New Bedford and the South Coast region.

With upgraded bulkheads, new berthing facilities, enhanced dredging, and expanded laydown space, North Terminal is designed to streamline logistics for businesses and facilitate future expansions.

The expansion of North Terminal is the latest piece of the modernization of the Port of New Bedford (MA). Over the past ten years, the Port has seen the largest set of infrastructure upgrades in generations, which will top $1 billion upon completion.
