The NPS also announced that there will be a partial closure of Crooke’s Point in Great Kills Park beginning on Friday, October 4.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting maintenance dredging of the Great Kills federal navigation channel, according to the NPS.

The work is expected to be completed within 33 days and the NPS said that the dredging “will affect the current beach profile.”

The partial closure may remain in place for approximately two to four weeks after the project is complete so that the beach can stabilize,” a press release from the NPS said.
