Seatronics Orders Teledyne Odom’s New MB1

Seatronics, an Acteon company, has ordered Teledyne Odom’s new MB1 multibeam sonar system. This is Seatronics’ first order for the system and it plans to purchase more during the year.

Dave Currie, managing director for Seatronics, said, “We can see that a lot of thought has gone into the design of MB1. The price and performance are perfectly suited to our new portable survey package, as well as several other applications. We are always keen to add the latest equipment to our rental pool and Teledyne Odom has shown us that it has really thought about the customer’s needs when designing the MB1.”

The MB1 offers

• a 170–220-kHz operating frequency

• 120° degree swath coverage

• up to 512 beams

• phase and amplitude bottom detection

• up to 100m water depth sounding.

Grant Jennings, sales and marketing director for Teledyne Odom, commented, “Seatronics is a long-time customer of Teledyne Odom and we are very happy it has ordered its first MB1 system for integration into its new portable survey package. Over the past 18 months, a lot of work has gone into designing a state-of-the-art sonar platform that we feel is ideally suited for small integrated systems such as portable vessel-mounted systems and autonomous underwater and remotely operated vehicles.”
