The Goetz is a hydraulic dredge based out of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Paul District that helps maintain the 9-foot navigation channel on the Upper Mississippi River.

In order to maintain the channel, maintenance dredging is performed at various locations in the reach of the Upper Mississippi in the Rock Island District.

Annual maintenance dredging of the 9-foot Channel Project is generally required at 10 to 15 sites, and the volume of material dredged is approximately 400,000 cubic yards per year.
