Late last year, BLRT Repair Yards welcomed Van Oord’s magnificent trailing suction hopper dredger, Vox Amalia, to its facilities in Klaipeda.

The company has been busy renewing the overflow hydraulic cylinders. This included the re-installation of the main sea inlet liner and an upgrade of the sea inlet pipeline, now equipped with new flow velocity and density meters for enhanced precision.

Additionally, BLRT was renewing suction pipes and installing anti-wearing doublers to reinforce them further.

Hopper dredgers are specialized ships, able to dredge sand, clay, sludge and even gravel from sea or riverbeds.

The vessels are deployed for a wide range of global activities, such as coastal protection, port construction, deepening waterways and land reclamation.
