Upgrading three boat ramps around Geelong

Business development

Upgrades at three boat ramps around Geelong worth a combined $8 million will begin soon to make it easier to get out onto Corio Bay and Port Phillip, Better Boating Victoria said.

At Kirk Point, boaters’ licence and registration fees will be reinvested to make launching a far simpler prospect at the single-lane ramp.

Parks Victoria will manage construction of a second ramp lane, additional parking and a breakwater to provide protection from wind and waves.

Work is expected to begin in May and be completed in late 2023.

When complete, it will help boost capacity on the western side of the bay, home to some of Melbourne’s fastest growing areas.

Upgrades at Limeburners and Avalon boat ramps are also nearing a start and stage one of both projects will be complete later this year.
