Caterpillar Marine Power Systems to Exhibit at Marintec China

Caterpillar Marine Power Systems will showcase a full-range of Cat® and MaK™ branded products and solutions at Marintec China, one of the most important exhibitions for the commercial marine industry in the region. The event, which takes place Nov. 29 through Dec. 2, 2011 at the Shanghai International Exhibition Center, is expected to draw 35,500 attendees from 87 countries.

An MaK 6 M 25 engine will be the centerpiece of the Caterpillar display, and twice daily MaK service technicians will conduct live, piston pulling demonstrations to show how easy it is to maintain an MaK engine. These demonstrations will take place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Caterpillar will also be launching its new, Cat® C175-16 marine propulsion engine, the latest in its line of high performance engines designed to meet EPA Marine Tier 3 and IMO Tier II emissions requirements, as well as the demanding requirements of all major marine classification societies. Rated at 125 – 135 bkW per cylinder at 1,600 rpm, the C175-16 extends Caterpillar Marine’s high-speed engine power range beyond the company’s already industry-leading 3516C-HD engine, and will soon be offered at even higher output with 1,800 rpm ratings.

The company’s display at the event will focus on how the customer, Caterpillar and its dealer organization work together, specifically highlighting four areas that define a customer’s journey to success with the company. These themed areas include:

Power Providers – Customers will learn about the Cat and MaK brands, complete product lines and engineered solutions, including the new C32 MCS generator set, the Cat MCS control simulator and emissions solutions designed to meet global regulatory changes.

Power Purchasing – Customers will learn how Cat Financial makes owning Cat and MaK power easy and affordable.

Power Parts – Genuine Cat and MaK parts and service keep engines and generator sets running reliably. In addition to learning about the Cat® PartStoreTM and online ordering options, customers can look at a variety of parts on display, including genuine MaK valves and competitive valves, nozzles and competitive nozzles; and Cat Component Comparison Kits, filters and fluid products.

Power Protection – Customers will learn about the global Cat dealer network, which offers service and support 24/7/365, anywhere in the world. Specific services available through the network include: SOS Online Service Web/SOS Oil Fluid Analysis; Customer Service Agreements; DICARE; training and overhauling.

Reinforcing this service support network concept, four Cat dealers will be actively participating in the booth. These dealers include:

• Westrac

In addition, MaK Asia, a Caterpillar-owned dealership and only distributor for the MaK brand in the Asia-Pacific region, will be participating in the booth.
