Ukraine triples volume of dredging in 2021

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) removed 3.6 million cubic meters of material in 2021 through the dredging operations with its own fleet.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, the volume of similar work was 1.1 million cubic meters of material in 2020.

“The volume of dredging works during 2021, carried out exclusively by the USPA, amounted to 3.6 million cubic meters – work was carried out in almost all Ukrainian seaports, water areas and canals,” said Oleksandr Holodnytsky, USPA Acting Head, during a briefing at a press center of Interfax-Ukraine yesterday.

As reported, Ukrainian seaports handled 153.076 million tonnes of cargo in 2021, which is 3.8% less than in 2020.

USPA is part of the management of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and unites Ukrainian seaports and other infrastructure objects, contributing to the development and competitiveness of each of them. 

The structure of the enterprise consists of the head office in Kiev and the main representative office in Odessa, Delta-pilot and Dredging fleet branches and 13 branches in the seaports of Ukraine.
