EA Engineer Receives Key Awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies/Maryland (ACEC/MD) and the Engineering Society of Baltimore, Inc. (ESB)

EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of environmental, engineering, and program/construction management services, announced today that Abbie Adams, P.E., is the 2011 recipient of two major awards for engineering professionals age 35 and under.

The ACEC/MD Young Professional of the Year Award was presented to Ms. Adams on 17 February 2011

Ms. Adams was also selected by the ESB Associate Society Council as this year’s recipient of their Young Engineer of the Year Award, and she received a commemorative plaque at their annual awards ceremony on 25 February 2011. Both presentations took place at the Engineer’s Club in Baltimore, Maryland.

Ms. Adams currently manages $1 million in engineering projects, supporting the Base Realignment and Closure program at U.S. Army Post Fort Belvoir, where she leads the EA team in assisting the Directorate of Public Works with planning, design, review, and management of this extensive infrastructure development program that includes a hospital, various Army agency headquarters, and the National Museum of the Army.

“Equally impressive to me is Abbie’s enthusiasm for her profession and her commitment to mentoring and community outreach,” said Michael Battle, EA’s Chief Operating Officer. “For example, she coaches members of our junior professional staff, providing leadership and teaching engineering skills. For 4 years, Ms. Adams has chaired Day with an Engineer for the Baltimore Post of the Society of American Military Engineers, connecting over 100 high school students with local engineers for a work shadow opportunity. Additionally, for the last 5 years, she has coordinated the company’s holiday gift drive for 75-100 kids living in a children’s home.”

Ms. Adams started her career at EA in 2003, after graduating from Bucknell University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Through exceptional work, she advanced quickly into project management, while earning her M.B.A. at Johns Hopkins University. She has applied both her project experience and post-graduate studies to expand her professional capabilities, which now include the planning and design of water/wastewater, energy, and solid waste projects, as well as project, contract, and proposal management.
