Crowdy Harbor Dredging Starts Soon

Dredging of the Crowdy Harbor Boat Ramp facility is set to begin on 11 November, informs the MidCoast Council, NSW.

In the release, the Council said that they will undertake the dredging of sand that has built up and is impacting the depth of all four boat ramps within the harbor.

The removed sand will be transferred to a nearby section of eroded foreshore to help replenish and stabilize the area.

Along with the dredge, a pipeline will be set up to transfer the sand to the targeted area of foreshore and this area will be fenced off for the duration of the project.

“We have a number of dredging operations happening at Harrington Back Channel and Crowdy Head at the moment, which will be welcome news for locals and visiting boaties,” said MidCoast Council’s Director of Liveable Communities, Paul De Szell.

“Dredging the ramps within the harbor will improve water quality and help with navigation in and out of the harbor, while the excess sand will replenish an area of the foreshore that really needs it, so it’s good news all round,”Paul De Szell added.

According to MidCoast Council, works will cause temporary inconvenience to recreational boat ramp users and signage and barriers will be in place in the lead up to the works and for the duration, advising of changing conditions and prohibited areas.
