Joint Secretary Agarwal at IADC New Delhi Event

The International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) has confirmed Mr. Rabindra Kumar Agarwal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping, to be a keynote speaker at their Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure Conference which will be held on 18 October 2019 in New Delhi, India.

At the event, Mr. Agarwal will address the economic developments in India, related to the dredging industry with also the aspect of sustainability.

According to IADC, in his role as a Joint Secretary, Ministry of Shipping, Mr. Agarwal has been assigned to the work of Sagarmala Program and Ports Division within the Ministry of Shipping.

The Sagarmala Program aims to promote port-led development in the country and to modernize existing ports and develop new green-field ports, improve port connectivity to the hinterland and develop optimal multi-modal logistic solution to reduce the logistics cost, harness the potential of coastal shipping and achieve efficient cargo movement.

During this IADC conference, new avenues towards the development of sustainable water infrastructure will be explored.

The four key enablers to ensure success will be discussed, including the issues of stakeholder engagement, valuation of ecosystem benefits, adaptive management of dredging projects and the beneficial use of dredged materials.

The conference’ speakers and sessions will be centered around the philosophy of the recently launched guidebook Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure.
