Surfside Beach Renourishment Project on the Way

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced the award of a $17.9 million construction contract and a community meeting Thursday, June 6, for the Surfside beach renourishment project.

The Corps’ Jacksonville District awarded this $17,987,375.00 construction contract to Continental Heavy Civil Corp of Miami, Florida, to renourish the shoreline of the Town of Surfside.

During the works, a total of 330,000 cubic yards of sand will be placed throughout the Town’s limits, seaward of the dunes.

Construction is expected to begin by late June or early July, with completion scheduled for winter 2019.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Miami-Dade County and the Town of Surfside will host the community meeting for the Surfside beach renourishment project, part of the Miami-Dade County Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project, on June 6 at 6 p.m. in the Town Hall Commission Chambers, 9293 Harding Avenue, Surfside, Florida, 33154.
