According to the official release, the company’s marine segment was recently awarded a contract from the North Carolina State Ports Authority for the construction of the Turning Basin Expansion project in the Port of Wilmington, NC.

Under the agreement, Orion’s scope on the project calls for installation of a new bulkhead wall and dredging activities to allow for larger vessels the ability to safely and more efficiently turn around in the Wilmington Harbor.

Commenting the latest news, Mark Stauffer, Orion’s President & Chief Executive Officer, said: “The North Carolina State Ports Authority has been a key customer of Orion’s for many years and we look forward to again helping the Port of Wilmington expand their existing infrastructure to support their strategy.”

The project is expected to begin in the third quarter with completion planned for early 2020.
