The dredging operations, conducted by Jenkins Marine, are being carried out by the dredge barge ‘Doreen Dorward’, with the spoil being deposited into two split hopper barges ‘Nab’ and ‘Needles’.

Cowes Harbor Commission, the statutory harbor authority for Cowes Harbor, said that the existing Small Craft Channel will remain open for use for the majority of this project, but there will be occasions when temporary exclusion zones may be in force around the dredging operations and vessels may be required to use the Main Channel.

Once the Eastern Channel is completed, there will be additional dredging operations at various locations within Cowes Harbor. These additional areas and operations will be promulgated by Local Notices to Mariners in early 2019, according to CHC.
