Coastal Protection Plans for Bray North Beach Move Forward

Business & Finance

Sinn Fein TD for Wicklow/East Carlow, John Brady, has received an update from the Environmental Protection Agency about the coastal protection works at Bray North Beach landfill.

Commenting the latest information on this capital coastal scheme, John Brady said: “After numerous discussions with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Wicklow County Council and the EPA for many months, I am delighted that coastal protection design options will be available next month.”

“The successful tenders for this work, Malachy Walsh and Partners, have been working on these designs since the end of September,” added Brady.

Once the designs are brought forward, the local authorities, the EPA and other relevant stakeholders will consider all options in consultation with the appropriate remediation options, which were outlined in the Tier 3 Risk Environmental Assessment report.

These discussions will also involve the elected representatives, according to Sinn Fein’s release.

A public consultation is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2018.
