Business & Finance

The Irish Government’s Marine Engineering Division of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine said in their latest announcement that the dredging works at Smooth Point in Killybegs Fishery Harbor Center are set to begin this month.

Plant on site will include the backhoe dredger Capall Mara as well as modular pontoon flat top dredge barges, tugs and other smaller vessels.

It is expected that this dredging scheme will be completed before March 2018.

The department is also undertaking works at the east side of the Auction Hall/Landing Pier involving the installation of additional steel fendering along the face of the pier and the construction of mooring dolphins at the start of the pier.

These works will involve the use of heavy civil engineering drilling and lifting plant. There will be a jack-up barge and a spud barge on-site during the works, the department said.
