Business & Finance

Final planning is underway for the 2017 WAMSI Dredging Science Node Conference that will take place at the State Library of Western Australia in Perth (Wednesday 22nd – Thursday 23rd November 2017).

The conference will share the results of the WAMSI dredging node, one of Australia’s largest and most successful single issue marine research programs in the context of the environmental impact assessment and management process in WA.

According to WAMSI, this incredibly important Western Australian program is aimed to improve the planning and regulation of major dredging operations in the precious marine environment.

This world-class marine research will enhance capacity within government and the private sector to predict and manage the environmental impacts of dredging in Western Australia. The outcomes will increase the confidence, timeliness and efficiency of the assessment, approval and regulatory processes associated with dredging projects,” said WAMSI.

Eighty-one scientists from ten collaborating research organisations, supported by $19 million in funding, have been working across nine integrated research themes to address key areas of uncertainty in the prediction and management of the impacts of dredging.
