The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, has begun embankment repair work to remedy longstanding erosion behind the Sam Rayburn reservoir project office and along the shoreline of Overlook Park.

According to the Corps, the repair work will prevent additional erosion and help stabilize the shoreline and facilities located at the reservoir and park by putting rip rap stone protection in place.

To ensure public safety, Overlook Park, the project construction site, and adjacent shoreline will remain a restricted area and closed to the public for the duration of the project,” said USACE. “The public may experience slow traffic and minor delays related to the work and construction along Recreation Route 255 across the dam as materials and equipment are delivered to the work site.”

The work is scheduled to be completed in January 2018 at which time public access will resume.
