Sarasota Boat Ramps Temporarily Closed Due to Dredging

The 10th Street Boat Ramp in Sarasota will be temporarily closed due to dredging, the City of Sarasota, FL, said in their latest release.

All six boat ramps will be closed from October 9-12 and reopen on October 13, according to the announcement.

“Prior to the brief closure, the number of boat ramps available for use will be temporarily reduced beginning Monday, October 2. Access will be limited to 2-4 of the six ramps,” the city said.

“Boaters are encouraged to use the next closest boat ramp in the city limits at Ken Thompson Park.”

Over the years, the 10th Street Boat Basin has filled with silt and needs to be dredged for the health of Sarasota Bay and to maintain marine navigation.

The project is approximately at the halfway point and is expected to be completed in January 2018, the city said.
