Boskalis Makes Good Progress in Peterhead

Business & Finance

Works are progressing well at the Peterhead Harbor deepening project, McLaughlin & Harvey reported today.

The company, together with joint venture partner Boskalis Westminster, is carrying out strengthening and deepening of quay walls within the port.

The project also includes 430,556sqft land reclamation with revetment, widening of the harbor entrance, and demolition works.

The harbor will also benefit from significantly improved realignment to the existing quay walls and an increased draft which will facilitate larger vessels.

For this rock dredging project, Boskalis brought in its its large backhoe dredger, the MP 40. The vessel – built by the MWB Motoren Werke Bremerhaven AG in 2008 – will dredge the inner harbor floors from -3.2m to -6.5m chart datum (CD).

Completion of the Peterhead Project is set for March 2018.
