Bids Invited for Cardiff Bay Maintenance Dredging

Business & Finance

The City of Cardiff Council has invited bidders to submit their offers for the maintenance dredging of the Cardiff Bay outer harbor and approach channel – 5 year term contract (2017-2022).

This area provides a safe haven for boats entering the Inland Bay and it was designed to allow access and egress for boats at all states of the tide, said the official announcement.

The authority has a duty under the Cardiff Bay Barrage Act to maintain the outer harbor and approach channel as a navigational route to the Inland Bay and also has to comply with the requirements of the dredging licence.

Dredging is therefore required twice yearly at times agreed with Natural Resources Wales.

The total value of this contract is  £3.5 million and the applications should be submitted no later than 22 May, 2017.
