McL&H Continues Work on the Teesport Project

Business & Finance

McLaughlin & Harvey continues to work on the phase 2 of the Teesport development project.

The project, being performed for client PD Ports, follows on from the successful delivery of the 305m long phase 1.

The 18-month phase 1 involved demolition of some 24,000 tonnes of the existing concrete quay deck with a similar amount of new concrete used in the reconstruction.

Also included in the phase 1 of the project was dredging of the berth pockets that was carried out by one of the largest backhoe dredgers in the world, the Boskalis’ Manu Pekka.

Phase 2 works include the design and construction of 245m of suspended deck quay, the demolition of the existing 50 year old post-tensioned concrete structure, and dredging.

When all three phases of the project are complete, Teesport will offer to its customers approximately 900m of new heavy lift quay.
