Dredging Work on Hagerstown City Park Lake Completed

Business & Finance

The dredging work on the lower lake at City Park in Hagerstown, conducted by Edwin A. and John O. Crandell Inc., was successfully wrapped up last week.

City Engineer, Rodney Tissue, said that 18,000 cubic yards of silt was removed during this cleanup program, which is the amount that the contractors expected to collect.

The water in the lake is still cloudy, but Tissue said he expects it to return to a normal appearance within a week.

The dredged material from the lake was placed at the Washington County Landfill, the Town of Hagerstown said in its announcement.

The main goal of the Hagerstown dredging project was to increase the lake’s depth to approximately five feet, enhancing the lake’s appearance, providing a healthier habitat for wildlife and waterfowl at the park, and creating opportunities for additional activities on the lake.
