Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) employees plan to go on strike today, demanding declaration by the central government that the public sector unit with its corporate office in Visakhapatnam would not be privatized, local media reports.

“Unions representing the non-executives and crew and petty officers of the Dredging Corporation of India Ltd have given call for one-day strike on April 11 in protest against rumors of strategic sale of DCI,” the company said in a filing to the BSE.

The management has requested the unions to withdraw the strike.

The Regional Labor Commissioner (Central) has conducted conciliation proceedings on strike notice issued by the Union and advised the unions not to go on strike since the matter is under conciliation.

Any strike during the pendency of conciliation proceedings is prohibited and is illegal, the company said in its announcement.
